Sorry, this item has sold.

A late 1800s large two volume set The Turner Gallery - A series of One Hundred and Twenty Engravings from the works of the late J.M.W. Turner, R.A. with descriptive text by W. Cosmo Monkhouse. Published by D. Appleton and Company, New York.

Each volume is over 2" thick and measure 11.25" x 14.5" tall. The front contains a list of all the steel engravings and a biography. The rest of the book is formatted with a picture of an engraving on very thick paper, a thin blank page, the description of the engraving on regular weight paper, and then repeated again, with the engraving always being on the back side of a page leaving two blank facing pages.

Condition: Covers have wear and small tears on the edges. Gold gilt edges so age and wear. Pages have discoloration, more so in the front of the book, especially noticeable on the thin page separating the engraving from the text. Please see all photos.

Note - These are very heavy books at nearly 11 lbs each! Shipping to the US will be by media mail to keep the cost down, but this can mean a little longer delivery time. Outside the US there is no option but to ship by Priority International.
