This is a vintage native Inuit halibut hook from the northwest. It is signed with what appear to be initials R and possibly an I and then '92 I think. It measures about 9.75" long. The hook is bone I believe. The darker brown side has a carving on the outside. These were used to catch an appropriate sized halibut, leaving the too large and too small unable to get hooked and therefore not wasted and left to live in the waters.
Condition issues: Overall nice but has a broken ear on the carved end along with some other marks in the wood that may or may not have been original to the piece.
