This is a unique vintage mechanical bubble blowing Hermann Teddy Original bear from West Germany. Pustefix is a well known bubble making company that used a blonde bear as its logo. This bear is mounted on a box that houses a motor and a blower. The bear has a hole in its mouth where it blows air through the wand that at one time would of had a hoop attached to the metal rod/wand coming out from its right paw. There also must have been a bowl or some kind of container that held the bubble solution mounted to the wooden piece in front. The gold plaque on the front reads Bubbles 'N Bear.
When plugged in the motor/blower works and air can be felt coming from the bear's mouth. The mechanism/motor that drives the bear's arm to raise to its mouth runs but the belt or rod that would of made it raise up & down is missing or broken so the arm does not move, I can move it by hand though. It is the brass colored rod shown in the 8th photo. I assume there was some kind of belt that is missing that attached to this rod somehow that moved the arm. The bear itself stands about 15" tall and overall height including the box is about 23". The box measures 7.5" x 10.5" x 8" tall and the whole piece is heavy at over 10 lbs. Both the bear and the box have soiling.
I can only speculate on the origin of this piece. Possibly it was made as a collaboration between Hermann and Pustefix for in store advertising. I don't know anymore about it than what I've said.
