This is a vintage, probably 1930s-1950s, Christmas diorama that some at least have been partially hand made, like the group in the 4th picture. (I think some of these would probably be referred to as spun cotton, like the dog and the store bought kids etc.) and some appear to be store bought, like the group in the last picture. The brush trees are store bought. I say it is a diorama because when I got it, there was an old mirror they all were on that was the ice skating pond that had cotton/angle hair glued down like snow banks and a few other trees. The mirror was not in good shape at all, and the "snow" was awfully dirty so I just got rid of it and kept these, I mention that because you could easily get another mirror and re-create the scene :-) Or of course use them however you want.
The group in the 4th picture are the home made/folk art ones and seem to made of crepe paper, cardboard (like the sled), mohair (in hair) and the heads are thin paper wrapped around something round with hand painted features. The fire and the log the old man is sitting on is wood and paper and cotton (and is kind of loosely holding together)
The group in the 5th picture are the old store bought figures made from of cardboard/mica, felt and cotton, with painted composition type heads/faces
The condition varies on all of these, the folk art pieces may be missing some hair here & there, some crepe paper missing from the hat of the person pushing the sled and the 3 single figures were at one time glued down to something by at least one of their feet.
The store bought group has some cotton missing here & there, like on the back of the head of the skier, the side and back of head of the kid on sled in orange, the 2 sleds with no one on them have glue spots where someone was at one time ( I sat one the folk art kids on one of the sleds in the 1st picture). The trees have remnants of glue/cotton around bases.
As for size, the tallest tree, the one on the left in the 1st picture is about 12" tall. The smallest tree about 4.0" tall and the average size of a standing person is about 3.5".
This is an old set, so please do NOT EXPECT IT TO BE PERFECT, there is overall wear and some missing pieces, but set up and on display it looks really great.
I only want to sell this as a set, I do NOT WANT TO SPLIT IT UP, sorry.
