This is an Original Pastel, I believe (or chalk) drawing of Joey the Clown by Red Skelton. I don't think it is signed, UNLESS that line in his forehead is Red's Signature. I believe it may be writing and possibly starting with an "R' and 3 small letters and a longer name, but I don't know for sure. Please look at the 3rd picture and decide your opinion.
What I DO know is where it came from. It was from an estate here in Washington State about a year ago of a man that was at least a good acquaintance if not good friends with Red Skelton. His name was Joe Laymen, Joe was a race Horse owner who was part owner of Seattle Slew. There were other items of Red's there, including a signed photo of Red with his wife. This is not framed and lays on a cardboard piece (not attached) that has the following written on the back "A Red Skelton clown / Series (1) 11 x 14 / Number-2 Name Joey". Please see last photo. as the cardboard is cut in a couple pieces.
I do believe this was drawing by Red Skelton, but the only provenance I have is what I have stated.
As stated on the back cardboard the image is 11" x 14". A few smudges around edges, slightly bent corner and or dinged corners, not effecting image, overall very nice condition.
