This is an antique Native American stone head for a weapon, or skull crusher or possibly a pipe (guessing). It has two holes for a handle and a groove to wrap with rawhide.
It measures approximately 2.5" x 2 3/8"
In 1941 the owner sent this specimen, along with several others to the University of Washington, Washington State Museum in Seattle to get information on their authentication. This piece was labeled #2 and written on the stone as shown. There is something etched in the stone, in part that reads Wyatt 1885.
I've included a picture of the letterhead with date, as well as the line of information given for this particular artifact, of which nothing comparable could be found.
Please see all photos, and my other listings at this time for more pieces from this collection.
