1920s Vintage Dutch Proverb Saying, Expression, Zoals het klokje thuis tikt, tikt het nergens, No Place Like Home Sign, Copper Inlay
A vintage, probably 1920s or so, Dutch sign with the proverb or saying Zoals het klokje thuis tikt, tikt het nergens. It translates in English to As the clock ticks at home, it doesn't tick anywhere, so it may be similar to the American saying of there's no place like home.
Measures 8.5" (21.5 cm) tall, 15" (38 cm) wide and 1" (2.5 cm) deep.
It is copper inlay with black and red lettering in a wood frame with chain hanger on back. There is also a sticker on the back I believe from where it was purchased in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
There are signs of age and wear to both the inlay sign and the wooden frame. Please see all photos.
