This is an antique late 1800s Victorian parasol. It is a black fabric with off white lace trim. Stands 27.75" (70.5cm) tall fully extended.
The lace is definitely more of an off white/cream color. It has become detached from the black in the area where it is most obviously soiled. The edge of the lace is not torn, just folded over from years of storage. Along the top smaller ring of lace there is a spot or two where the lace is loose and a soiled spot on the black. There is also a hole at the point where one of the metal bars attaches to the fabric.
The parasol locks into an open position as shown, but the very top tilts freely. This may or may not be how it was designed. The middle gold metal piece slides up also to allow the handle to be folded in half for more compact storage. This is not shown in any of the photos.
