An antique 1920s era Japanese wood pencil storage box with a scenic lithograph of two women near a lake or river. The box measures about 8.5" x 2.5" x 1.5". Inside there are three different compartments that could hold pencils, pens and erasers.
Condition is pretty good for being used. There is some wear to the black paint, mostly on the lid, as well as wear to the litho scene. Inside there is quite a bit of writing in pencil, except the initials GMW may be in ink, as well as some other larger ink marks on the right side.
The left interior of the box lid has a crack going from near the corner to about 1.5" up to the black front and then continues in a zig zag to the lid top. A bit away from this there is another possible crack in the paint at least. On the bottom left inside there is a small .5" wood crack, also near the corner. There is writing on the box bottom also. Please see all photos.
